Some monitors we recommend to use for Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD etc X11-workstation:
In general we suggest to spend money for a good monitor as you may
spend a lot of time to watch on it, and quality is important.

ViewSonic seems (March 1999) the best price/quality ratio arround,
their 17", 19", and 21" are very good.
The 21" (20" viewable) P815 is a good choice:
1800x1440 @ 76Hz, 1600x1200 @ 91Hz, price aprx. $1400
The 21" (20" viewable) P817 is high-end, 2048x1536 @ 85Hz, 1800x1440 @ 90Hz,
1600x1200 @ 108Hz are values which are incredible, price unknown.
iiyama sells a 22" (20.5" viewable) monitor Vision Master Pro 510
(0.25-0.27mm pitch-dotch) which supports 2048 x 1536 @ 80Hz,
price aprx. $1400.-
M 2040U NF is a 22" screen, with 0.24mm edge-to-edge;
this allows 2048x1536 @ 80Hz truly. Price aprx. $1300
Sony produces following monitor (among others):
- GDM-900 is 24", dot-pitch 0.23-0.27mm, 2304x1440 @80Hz, aprx. $2100.
- F-500 is 21", dot-pitch 0.22mm edge-to-edge, 2048x1536 @75Hz, aprx. $1800
- G-500 is 21", dot-pitch 0.24mm edge-to-edge, 2048x1536 @75Hz, aprx. $1200
- G-400 is 19", dot-pitch 0.24-0.25mm, 1800x1440 @70Hz, aprx. $650
Their latest (November 1998) 17" Flat-Panel 1600SW LCD monitor supports 1600x1024 @ 60Hz, comes with
a Number 9: Revolution IV videocard (digital-to-digital). Also for Mac & Win95/98, if Linux is support we don't know yet,
if you know please let us know. Price aprx. $2600
XIG supports this monitor & videocard (Feb 1999).
