Tablets
1. Wacom

Within the X11 environment Wacom tablets are best supported, among SummaGraphics tablets. XFree86 has the best support (Jan, 2000) for the tablets, whereas XIG Xaccelerated server lacks of options, but has better X11-performance.

The Wacom Intuos are available in several sizes ($100-$800), whereas the Wacom Graphire is a good low-cost approach ($80).

High-end (or better said high-price) solution are the PL-300 and PL-400, LCD screen with integrated tablet, great concept, but with $3,000 indiscussable overpriced (check keyboard-less I-Appliances which will sell arround $400-$600 fall 2000).

XFree86

 With XFree86 the table is supported via Xinput extension, and it has many options for the /etc/XF86Config, be aware that some setup programs overwrite hand-written add-ons you did.
